Introduction

José Luis Riveiro is a Spanish football manager, born on September 15, 1977, in Vigo, Spain. He is currently the head coach of Orlando Pirates FC, one of South Africa's most successful football clubs. Early Career in Spain 

Riveiro began his coaching career in Spain at a young age. His first significant position was with CD Teis, a local team, where he worked between 1998 and 2001. Move to Finland 

In 2014, Riveiro took his career to a new level by moving abroad to Finland. He joined FC Honka as an assistant coach, gaining valuable international experience. He then moved to PK-35 Vantaa in 2015, and a year later, he became the assistant manager of HJK Helsinki, one of the top clubs in Finland.


In 2018, Riveiro was appointed as the head coach of FC Inter Turku. His time at Inter Turku was a turning point in his career. He led the team to a second-place finish in the Veikkausliiga, qualifying them for European competitions for the first time in six years. His success in Finland earned him recognition as a top coach.


Success with Orlando Pirates 

In June 2022, José Riveiro was appointed as the head coach of Orlando Pirates FC in South Africa. His impact was immediate. In his first season, Riveiro guided the Pirates to win the 2022 MTN 8 League Cup and the 2022–23 Nedbank Cup. His tactical knowledge and leadership also secured the team a second-place finish in the South African Premier Division, qualifying them for the prestigious CAF Champions League.


Riveiro continued to build on his success in the 2023–24 season. He led the Pirates to defend their MTN 8 Cup title and helped the team reach the Nedbank Cup final once again, facing off against Mamelodi Sundowns.
